WHY PURGING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL:

Compulsive eBay BuyerDo you have a lot of baggage? We all have a lot of baggage from time to time. So how do we get rid of it? Pure Purging baby!

Purging, letting go of the past, allows you to move on emotionally and literally (easier to move to a different house/location). Purging your old stuff helps you organize what is really important. Purging is a good way to remember the good times, and a good way to let go of the bad times. Purging may also make you richer. Here is how:

10 STEPS TO BECOMING RICHER

  1. Chose the thing you want most (motorcycle, vacation, snowboard, etc.)
  2. Research the item and compare prices
  3. Go to stores and test the equipment out
  4. Print out a picture if the item
  5. Write the total goal price you need to purchase the item (for example, this may not be the entire amount but just a down payment)
  6. Go through your house and determine what you can do without

Make three piles:

-NEVER SELL!
-Possible Sale Items (for future review)
-Sell

  1. Place ads:
  1. Go to LOCAL buy and sell stores
  • Pawn shops
  • Flea markets
  • Used bookstores
  • Electronics stores
  1. Get a savings account!! Most banks will link several savings accounts to your one checking account for no additional charge. CAUTION: If you mingle the money with your already existing accounts chances are you will spend the money on things other than your chosen wish list item.
  2. Purchase your wish list item!! Congratulations!

Taking years to pay for something like a TV, or a non essential vehicle makes no financial sense. Sure it may make you happy from time to time, but you really need to be able to pay cash for as much as you can. Saving and buying things without having to use credit is the path to becoming rich.
